The first meeting of the newly-formed Cabinet of Ministers, chaired by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, took place today at the Presidential Secretariat. This significant event marks the commencement of the new Cabinet's work under President Dissanayake’s leadership.
According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), a notable development from the meeting was the appointment of Minister of Health and Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, as the new Cabinet Media Spokesperson. Dr. Jayatissa will be succeeding Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath in this role.
This appointment signals a reshaping of the Cabinet’s communication strategy, as Dr. Jayatissa assumes the critical responsibility of representing and conveying Cabinet decisions to the public and media.
